The JUNO project was approved in 2013, and the excavation of the underground cavern began in 2015. The core detection equipment is located in an experimental hall 700 meters underground. With measuring the neutrino mass hierarchy as its primary scientific objective, JUNO also conducts cutting-edge and interdisciplinary research on supernova neutrinos, geoneutrinos, solar neutrinos, proton decay, and more. It holds great significance for fundamental scientific fields such as particle physics, astrophysics, and cosmology.
During the construction of the observatory, Antai Pump Industry played a crucial role. Since 2016, Antai Pump Industry has provided various models of explosion-proof submerged sand-draining electric pumps for the JUNO laboratory, including six models with power ratings of 160KW and 315KW, totaling nearly a hundred pumps.
Through years of efforts, the main detector unit of the JUNO observatory has been largely completed. The innermost organic glass sphere, which is the world's largest monolithic organic glass sphere, has been successfully assembled. It is composed of 263 curved glass panels, each 12 centimeters thick, bonded together with upper and lower chimneys. The organic glass weighs approximately 600 tons, and it is produced using a unique formula and process that offers high light transmittance and low background radioactivity. The natural radioactive backgrounds of uranium and thorium account for less than one in ten trillion. Upon completion, the JUNO observatory will become one of the international centers for neutrino research, further consolidating China's leading position in the field of neutrino research globally. The high-quality explosion-proof submerged sand-draining electric pumps provided by Antai Pump Industry have provided strong support for the construction of the observatory, ensuring the smooth progress of related work.
Founded in June 2005, Antai Pump Industry is located in the Economic Development Zone of Yutai County, Shandong Province. It is a modern intelligent manufacturing enterprise specializing in industrial submersible pumps. The company has established industry-academia-research collaborations with multiple research institutions and universities, possesses a provincial research and development center and an academician workstation, and boasts strong research and development capabilities. It has continuously developed new technologies, products, and processes for many years, with multiple research achievements reaching international advanced levels.
In the future, the JUNO laboratory is expected to be the first to measure key data globally, making significant contributions to exploring the mysteries of cosmic evolution, star formation, supernova explosion mechanisms, and more. Meanwhile, Antai Pump Industry will continue to monitor the progress of the project construction, fully cooperate with the project's construction needs, and actively participate in the construction of major national scientific projects in the future, jointly promoting the development of science and technology in China.
